Project Profile
Location: 140 km northwest of Den Helder, Dutch North Sea, Netherlands
Production: 1,700,000 Nm³/d (11,500 boepd)
Start-up Year: 14th of August 2013
In 2013, Total E&P Nederland started up production from its offshore K4-Z field, which is part of the production licence K4a, located some 140 kilometres northwest of Den Helder in the Dutch North Sea. The project has a production potential of approximately 1,700,000 Nm³/d (11,500 boe/d). The K4-Z field was discovered back in 1974. Being a marginal field, not able to sustain important development costs, it was lying dormant until the Dutch Government instated the marginal field policy plus an accelerated depreciation measurement in 2010, rendering the development economically attractive.
To develop the reserves, a new, 2 wells subsea completion has been installed at the K4-Z location. The new subsea development is linked to the K5-A platform. The produced gas will be exported through the existing WGT pipeline to the Den Helder gas terminal. The K4-Z project recently reached 1,000,000 man-hours from the beginning of the project without any lost-time safety incidents (LTI’s).
