Project Profile
Value: Undisclosed
Location: the eastern margins of the central North Sea, UK
Drilling start-up: May 2013
Relinquishment date: December 2014
ConocoPhillips has unearthed a hydrocarbons discovery at what was seen as a high-risk play in the UK North Sea. The company has struck a 30 metres-plus gas column at the 23/22b-6Z exploration well on the Lacewing prospect on the eastern margins of the central North Sea. The HPHT well reached a measured target depth of 4380m, intersecting the target Triassic interval. The primary reservoir target are the Judy and Joanne Triassic sandstones.
The post-drill well evaluation lead to non-commercial hydrocarbon volumes, therefore the Lacewing discovery was not appraised. The Licence P1181 was relinquished on 31st December 2014.
