Statoil has been granted a permit by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill a well on the Klara prospect located in the Norne area of the Norwegian continental shelf in production license PL159C. Well 6507/3-10 will be drilled by the Songa Trym (mid-water semisub) to a vertical depth of 12,421 feet in 1,230 feet of water. Drilling is expected to take roughly 50 days if no problems are encountered. An additional 14 days have been allotted for an optional sidetrack. The Klara well will be the first to be drilled in the production license.
