Tonto lies about 1.3 kilometres from the Forties Bravo platform in central North Sea Block 21/10. The development will include up to five development wells drilled from Forties Bravo.
Tonto-1, the first producing well, came on stream at an initial rate of 10,346 bpd of oil. The well was drilled as a \"deviated well\" from the Forties Bravo production platform. The appraisal probe hit 19 m of net oil pay in an Eocene-aged sandstone reservoir at a depth of 1,928 m. A horizontal completion lateral logged 74 m of net pay in terms of measured depth. Recoverable reserves at Tonto are estimated at 2.5 million barrels of oil equivalent.

Tonto-1 was launched in April 2013 with initial production of 10,300 bpd, while Tonto-2 followed with 8,300 bpd in September that year. During 2015, the BB3 exploration probe struck 9 m of net oil pay in the Brimmond Sands, and was subsequently launched with initial output of 5,400 bpd. The Tonto reservoir is located above the main Forties reservoir.

Apache had been working closely with the UK government to start production ahead of a new 3D seismic shoot over Forties in July 2013.
