Project Profile

Area: 1,024 sq km (Aquiles) and 970 sq km (Cronos)
Start-up Year: -
San Leon Energy has won a pair of exploration licences in Spain. Frontera Energy (wholly owned subsidiary) was awarded two new onshore blocks, Aquiles and Cronos, with both unconventional and conventional resource potential.
Both licences were granted for six-year terms, divided into three two-year stages. The first stage will involve the analysis of existing seismic and well data, to be followed by a seismic acquisition programme in stage two. The third stage will require a commitment to drill one exploration well in each block.
The 1,024 square kilometre Aquiles licence is located in the Zaragoza and Navarro regions of northeast Spain while the 970 square kilometre Cronos permit lies closer to the centre of the country, across the Soria and Guadalajara regions.
