Project Profile

Location: Blocks 11/30a and 12/26c, 2.5 km to the east of the Beatrice field, Inner Moray Firth area, UK
Contingent Resources: 15 million boe or 1.7 million boe (P50)
Start-up Year: -

The Polly discovery lies 2.5 km to the east of the Beatrice field in the Inner Moray Firth area in UK and is an elongate structure which straddles blocks 11/30a and 12/26c. With only 15 million boe of in-place resources and 1.7 million boe estimated in a P50 contingent scenario as of 2013, development of Polly is unlikely to be commercially viable at current oil prices.

Ithaca acquired the Polly prospect through the 23rd UK Licensing Round. The Polly prospect was drilled in 2009. Well 11/26c-5 tested the centre of the structure and proved moveable oil in place (sample recovered to surface by RFT).

The well was not tested due to environmental considerations in the Inner Moray Firth but it remains suspended for re-entry and use in a potential development. The well encountered a 14 foot oil column over water in the Beatrice A sand reservoir. The porosity of the reservoir (14%) is lower than the Beatrice field average.

The oil discovered is similar to that of the Beatrice field. Development of Polly has been considered via either a subsea completion tied back to the Jacky platform or a deviated well drilled directly from the Beatrice Bravo.
