Project Profile

Location: Carpathian Fold Belt, over the Polish border from Bieszczady and Wetlina, north east Slovakia
Area: 1,247 sq km

Svidnik, Medzilaborce and Snina exploration licences are three exploration licenses covering a total area of 2,442sq.km in the Carpathian Fold Belt over the Polish border from Bieszczady and Wetlina in north east Slovakia. Acquisition of 800 km of 2D seismic data in 2008 through 2011 provided basic regional information in the two eastern licences, as well as infill data in the western Svidnik licence. The Cierne-1 exploration well location in the westernmost Svidnik licence has been selected. The well will be drilled to more than 3,500m with a number of additional targets identified in this sub-thrust play. Spud date is expected in 2013. Exploration of the three Slovakian licences continued in 2011 with the acquisition of 301km of 2D seismic data. The new lines were laid out to complete definition of the previously mapped prospects and leads in the Svidnik concession and to provide a tighter reconnaissance grid over Medzilaborce and Snina. On Svidnik, the Zborov-B prospect was identified as the leading candidate for drilling and a well site was secured at Cierne. Biostratigraphy and integrated structural interpretation, supported by geological fieldwork, continues in order to de-risk the prospect fully before drilling. Geosciences work to complete the mapping of the Slovakian acreage has continued with the completion of a 12,549 line-km survey of full tensor airborne gravity gradiometry and magnetics across all blocks during 2013.
