The Ardbeg prospect in Licence P1852 (26th Round licence) covers approximately 430 square kilometres. The Ardbeg prospect is a sub-basalt structural closure, which is a west southwest - east northeast trending feature. Top seal would be provided by the thick overlying basalt or by interbedded Cretaceous and Jurassic mudstones.
The work programme consists of the new acquisition of a minimum 200km of 2-D seismic, along with the purchase of an additional 200km of 2-D seismic data to fully evaluate the prospectivity. In the summer of 2011 Faroe Petroleum completed the acquisition of new high resolution long offset data, in accordance with the licence work obligations, which is now being interpreted ahead of a drill or drop decision.
