The licence covers a total area of 993 square kilometres and lies in the north eastern part of the offshore Rockall Basin, a deepwater basin west of Ireland. FEL 1/09 contains a very large fault block prospect (Muckish) covering an area of 31 square kilometres in a water depth of 1,450 metres. Potential reserve estimations (P90-P10) range from 19-200 mmbbls of condensate with 147-1530 bcf of gas, with P50 reserves of 591 bcf and 76 mmbls of condensate.
Serica has acquired several 2D long-offset seismic lines and reprocessed the existing 3D seismic volume over the Muckish structure as part of the initial term work programme. This work has helped de-risk the Muckish prospect as it demonstrates that it has distinct similarities to the nearby Dooish discovery. The company is commencing plans to test drill the Muckish prospect and will be seeking partners to share the drilling cost.
