Ula field is an oil field in the southern part of the North Sea, at a sea depth of 70 metres. The main reservoir is 3,345 meters below the seabed The Ula field produced 317,500 barrels of oil in July 2012, or about 10,200 barrels per day. The field\'s peak production was 52.4 million barrels in 1995 or 143,600 barrels per day on average. In 2011, production had fallen to 4.8 million barrels, or 13,200 barrels per day on average. The oil from the field is transported by pipeline via Ekofisk to Teesside. The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority, or PSA was investigating a substantial oil leak at the BP PLC operated Ula oil field in the North Sea in September 2012. Production is still suspended after the leak, which occured September 12, 2012.
Ula was discovered in 1976 by the 7/12-2 discovery well. In 2009, BP commenced drilling and well activities to explore lifetime extension of the field. These activities included re-completion of well A12, drilling of a sidetrack of well A15 and well A17B.
DONG E&P Norge divested its ownership shares to Faroe Petroleum Norge. Transfer of ownership to Faroe is subject to approval by Norwegian authorities and is expected to complete during the later part of 2016. (July, 2016)
