Project Profile

Location: North Sea, UK
Blocks: 15/16a and 14/20a
Water Depth: 138 metres
Start-up Year: January 1981

The Tartan field is located in Blocks 15/16a and 14/20a of the UK sector of the North Sea in 138 metres of water. Talisman Energy wholly owns and operates the field. The field was developed by five production and two wells connecting to a four-legged steel jacket supporting process, utilities drilling and accommodation modules via a module support frame. The jacket is fixed to the seabed by an array of 28 piles, which was installed in 1979. First production from the field was achieved in January 1981. Several fields are subsea tied-back to the Tartan platform.

The Highlander field was developed as a subsea tie-back to the platform in 1985 followed by the Petronella field in 1986 (Block 14/20bF-1). Oil and gas from the Galley field were tied into Tartan in 1998 and then reconfigured as a full subsea tie-back in 2007. The Duart field was developed as a subsea tie-back, also in 2007, while Tartan North Terrace was subsea tied-back to the platform in 2004.
