Vankorneft develops the Vankor field, the biggest deposit to have been discovered and brought into production in Russia in the previous 25 years. It is located in the northern part of Eastern Siberia, in Turukhansky District of Krasnoyarsk Territory, 142 km from the town of Igarka. The area of the field is 447 square km. Commercial production at the Vankor field began in July 2009.
Liquids output in 2009 totalled 3.6 million tpy (72,000 bpd). It then rose to 12.6 million tpy (253,000 bpd) in the following year. Output in 2015 was 22 million tpy (442,000 bpd) but Rosneft forecast a decline to 21 million tpy (421,00 bpd) in 2016 on account of pipeline repair work. Production of crude oil and condensate is seen peaking at 2019. Gas output reached 10 bcm in 2016.
