Project Profile

Location: Armada area, North Sea, 250km northeast of Aberdeen, UK
Area: 31 sq km
Water Depth: 89 m
Start-up Year: October 1997

The Armada area is located 250 kilometres northeast of Aberdeen in the UK sector of the North Sea, and extends over five blocks, 22/5b, 22/5a, 16/29a, 22/4a, and 16/29c. Armada spans more than 31 sq km and consists of three gas/condensate accumulations, Fleming, Drake and Hawkins. The three fields transport their hydrocarbons to the Armada platform, located in Block 22/5 of the Central North Sea. Armada is a single platform consisting of a four-legged steel space frame jacket supporting a single integrated deck containing wellhead, process and accommodation facilities and two export pipelines. As additional discoveries were made in the immediate area, the former operator Shell began developing Armada as a production hub. Modifications were made to the Armada platform in 2006 and 2007 to allow oil production from the Seymour and subsequently the Maria fields to be processed.

The Seymour gas field is situated in the North Sea, about 251 km northeast of Aberdeen. Seymour was appraised and drilled from the Armada platform, with first production commencing in March 2003. A second well in the northwest Seymour area was brought into production in 2006. The gas condensate field flowed at a maximum rate of 1.25 mcm per day on a 60/64th inch choke.
