The project will see the proposed construction of an LNG terminal in Kenya in a bid to diversify the country’s energy sources. The terminal will be located in Mombasa and will supply fuel to thermal power generating plants and industries in the surrounding area. The proposed LNG floating storage (FSRU) import terminal has an expected capacity of 1mtpa. The proposed location is Mombasa with potential for supply from Qatar, and objective of supply of gas to Kenyan power sector. Now on hold as Kenya reviews own gas production options more closely.
