The Volund field is located in PL 150, roughly 5 miles (8 kilometres) south of the Alvheim field on Block 24/9. Marathon serves as the operator and holds a 65% interest, Lundin Norway AS holds the remaining 35% interest. Receiving governmental approval for field development in January 2007, the plan calls for four subsea wells, three for production and one for water injection, tied-back to the Alvheim FPSO. Volund\'s oil will be sent via the Alvheim blend and exported via shuttle tankers, and associated gas will be exported via the Alvheim-to-SAGE pipeline. Production commenced on Sept. 16, 2009, and will produce roughly 20,000 to 40,000 bopd.
