SSDR Scarabeo 5 has been chartered to Statoil for a period up until 2013, with the option of at least a year’s extension beyond that date. The rig, purpose-built for Norwegian conditions in Italy, features a dynamic positioning (DP) system, allowing drilling at great water depths. The drilling depth record for this rig, so far, is 2000 metres. The rig is a 5th generation vessel with large capacity, advanced performance and strong technical capabilities. Scarabeo 5, operating successfully on the Norwegian Continental Shelf since 1990, has a well-motivated and highly experienced crew. The total rig crew numbers 180.
