Project Profile

Location: PL477, Halten Terrace, Norway
Block: 6506/11
Main reservoir: Middle Jurassic Garn and Ile formations

This APA 2007 licence is located between the Smørbukk and Morvin fields, immediately to the south of the Fogelberg discovery (PL433) licence on the prolific Halten Terrace in the Norwegian Sea. The Cooper prospect is situated on Block 6506/11 in the North Sea. Centrica Resources operates the license with a 40 percent stake; while Faroe holds 30%; and Suncor Energy holds 30%. Cooper consists of an untested north to south trending fault block. The main reservoir objectives are the prolific Middle Jurassic Garn and Ile formations, which are the main producing reservoirs in the neighboring Smorbukk and Morvin fields. Centrica is currently exploring the prospect. In April 2012, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Centrica Resources a drilling permit for wellbore 6506/11-9 to be drilled by the West Alpha (mid-water semisub).
