Borankol Oil Field is an oil field located in Mangystau Province, in Kazakhstan. It was discovered in 1998 and developed by Ascom Group. The total proven reserves of the Borankol oil field are around 21.3 million barrels (3×106tonnes), and production is centered around 10,000 barrels per day .

In 1999, Anatolie Stati and his son Gabriel Stati, through their companies Ascom Group S.A. and Terra Raf Trans Trading Ltd started to buy shares in two local companies Kazpolmunay and Tolkynneftgaz. Kazpolmunay had extraction rights to the oil field Borankol, in which the LPG plant would have been built by Tolkynneftgaz.

In 2009, the Kazakh authorities started to file claims against Kazpolmunay and Tolkynneftegaz. Kazpolmunay was accused of illegally transporting the crude via main oil pipelines belonging to the national operator KazTransOil for 10 years.
