Project Profile
Location: 10-20 km south-west of the Corrib field, Ireland
Reserves: 228 billion cubic feet of potential gas in place
Start-up year: -
The initial technical evaluation of 11/12 had revealed the presence of the Kylemore and Shannon prospects which are similar in age to the nearby Corrib gas field.
The Shannon prospect lies about 10 kilometres south-west of the Corrib field and a well was drilled on the prospect in 1999 but failed to encounter the Corrib reservoir.
Kylemore lies about 20 kilometres to the south-west of the Corrib field and, based on 2D and 3D seismic data, was interpreted as a mid-basinal inverted four way dip-closed anticline and volumetric analysis indicated 228 billion cubic feet of potential gas in place.
Operators:
Providence Resources: Operator with 66.66% interest
First Oil Expro: 33.33% interest (entered into administration in February 2016)
Contractors:
Searcher Seismic: 9,000km Echidna Regional Broadband 2D seismic survey
Schlumberger: Contract to further de-risk its assets off Ireland’s southwest coast. Providence signed a technical deal covering its interests in the Southern Porcupine and Gorban Spur Basins. Schlumberger will assist Providence’s technical team, facilitating the opening of data-room processes as it prepares to pursue a farm-out at its Drombeg, Druid and Newgrange prospects in the first quarter of 2016.
