Project Profile
Location: The Inner Moray Firth,North Eastern offshore Scotland
Water depth: 210 ft (64 m)
Relinquishment date: 31/01/2014
Block 12/30 is located in the Inner Moray Firth at the eastern end of the West Bank high straddling the Buckie Ridge. The South Halibut basinal area, where the principle prospect reservoir Cretaceous Coracal and the Put sands are deposited, is also identified as the Kimmeridge Clay Formation oil source kitchen.
High quality Lower Cretaceous reservoir is proven in the well to the north of the prospect.
Source and Charge are de-risked by the gas discovery downdip to the south east. The Lower Cretaceous Punt sands are the main target at 3,700 ft (1,128 m).
Even though the licence had been surrendered, Echo Exploration Limited still firmly believes the Badger prospect has merit and would welcome an opportunity to acquire and interpret a more rigorous seismic programme in the future.
Work Commitment
• The Licensee shall obtain 150km of seismic data.
• Commit to drill or drop a 1525m well by January 2014.
• The Licensee purchased 157km of the DG972D2001 survey over the block and has completed the firm work commitment.
