Project Profile

Location: Barents Sea, Norway
Reserves: 400 million to 600 million barrels
Depth: 1,198 ft (365 m)
Start-up Year: 2022

The Havis discovery is located in Production License 532 in the Barents Sea. Statoil serves as the operator of PL 532 with a 50% stake; while Eni holds 30% and Petoro hold 20%. Well 7220/7-1, drilled by the Transocean Barents (UDW semisub), proved a 157-foot (48 metre) gas column and a 420 foot (128 metre) oil column. The operator estimates that the volumes in Havis are between 200 to 300 bbl of recoverable oil equivalents. The well reached a vertical depth of 7,218 feet (2,200 metres) in a water depth of 1,198 feet (365 metres). based on 2016 estimations, the proven volumes in Johan Castberg are estimated to 400-600 million barrels of oil.
Statoil has distributed a proposed impact assessment programme for the largest field yet to be developed on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS). While development plan has yet to be submitted, the field is expected to be developed using a floating, production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) unit. (September, 2016)
