The area in the production license is located in the southern section of the North Sea, and comprises the south-western part of block 2/4.
Det norske has commenced exploratory drilling on Storebjorn on Jan. 30, 2012. Well 7/12-13 S is the first well in the license, which was awarded in the 2007 APA licensing round. The well will be drilled about nine kilometers south of the Ula field. The operator is using the Maersk Guardian jackup to drill the well.
Well 7/12-13 S penetrated the water bearing Ula formation at 4,255 m. The well was permanently abandoned as a dry well in May 2012.
