Project Profile
Value: Undisclosed
Location: Northern North Sea, roughly 93 miles (150 kilometres)
Water depth: 152 m / 502 ft
Two fields, Don Southwest and West Don, are located in the northern North Sea, roughly 93 miles (150 kilometres) northeast of the Shetland Islands, UK, in a water depth of 500 feet (152 metres).
Originally discovered in the 1970\'s, both fields were only partially developed due to the reservoirs\' small size, and deep fault-bounded compartments. In 2006, Petrofac gained operatorship of the project and re-examined the previous development of the fields. Petrofac decided to jointly develop the two fields using the Northern Producer floating production facility, rather than a host platform for processing fluids. By doing this, offshore work is limited, which reduces costs of development.
With a field life estimated at seven to eight years, Don Southwest and West Don should reach a peak production of 50,000 bopd.
