The Phoenix prospect is located in Production License 559 in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The PL 559 partnership consists of Rocksource (operator, 60%), VNG (30%) and Skagen44 (10%).
Rocksource spud the well in September 2011 using the Borgland Dolphin semisub but did not encounter hydrocarbons in the prospect. The well reached a depth of 7,989 feet (2,435 metres) in the Triassic Red Beds. Data acquisition of the well is ongoing and information from the well will be used in further evaluation of the license.
