Project Profile
Value: US$150 million
Location: Block 25/8, Norwegian Continental Shelf
Reserves: 5 million and 9 million barrels of oil equivalent
Production: 15,000 bpd
Start-up Year: 2013
Water Depth: 128 m
Situated in the Norwegian North Sea about 3.7 miles (6 kilometres) southeast of the Jotun field in the North Sea is the Jette field, formerly Jetta. Jette (well 25/8-17) is located on Production License 027D, which was awarded on Dec. 7, 2007 as a supplement to the first licensing round. On July 28, 2009, Det norske agreed to lift its stake in PL 027D from 35% to 47%, prior to commencing drilling operations. Initially, Det norske is operating the field, holding a 63.3% interest; Dana holds 19.2%; Bridge Energy holds 6%; and Petoro holds 11.5%. However, Bridge Energy and Dana Petroleum have elected not to participate in the development of Jette. The remaining partners are in discussions with respect to the final ownership stake in the license.
Production from the field was targeted at between 11,000 and 12,500 barrels per day, with estimated recoverable reserves of between 5 million and 9 million barrels of oil equivalent based on a 30% recovery rate. However, the first well is producing above expectations at a reported rate of around 15,000 bpd. The recoverable volumes from Jette could be hit by the well issues. Det Norske holds a 70% operated stake in the field’s production with state holding company Petoro on the remaining 30%.
On Oct. 28, 2009, the partners announced an oil discovery was made on Jette. Oil was proven in the targeted reservoir but its thickness was less than expected. In November, a sidetrack was drilled to a vertical depth of 7,067 feet (2,154 metres) in 417 feet (127 metres) of water and concluded in the Rogaland Group. In September 2011, Det norske submitted a PDO for the development, which entails two horizontal wells, tied-back to the Jotun FPSO. Jette, containing nearly 14 MMbbl of oil equivalents, is projected to produce roughly 14,000 barrels. First oil is expected to commence in 1Q 2013.
