Project Profile

Value: US$1,000 million
Location: Zeebrugge, Belgium
Capacity: 13.2 mtpa (from 6.6 mtpa)
Annual throughput capacity of 9 billion cubic metres of natural gas.
Start-up Year: 2016

The project will see the proposed doubling of the capacity of the Zeebrugge LNG terminal (from 6.6 mtpa to 13.2 mtpa) and an expansion of its north-south onshore pipeline network, apparently in response to further capacity demand. A memorandum has outlined possibility not only of additional north-south pipeline capacities as early as 2012 from Zeebrugge toward France and from the Dutch-Belgian border toward France.  The Zeebrugge LNG terminal has an annual throughput capacity of nine billion cubic metres of natural gas importing the liquefied natural gas mainly from Qatar. It can receive 110 carriers per year and serves as a gateway to supply LNG into Northwestern Europe. The terminal consists of 4 LNG tanks totaling 380,00 cbm, a truck loading station, an existing jetty with one more jetty under construction.

Zeebrugge LNG terminal operated by Fluxys is scheduled to receive its first July cargo from Qatar. (June, 2016)
