The Earb South prospect is located on Block 25/10, about 9 miles (15 kilometers) west of the Balder field and 22 miles (35 kilometers) south of the Heimdal facilities, in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.
On February 23 2011, Marathon spud exploratory well 25/10-11 on the Earb South prospect. Drilled by the Transocean Winner semisub, the well is targeting sandstones within the Draupne formation and the Hugin formation.
Earb South is estimated to contain gross unrisked prospective gas and condensate resources of 81 million barrel oil equivalents.
