There have been to date, 14 appraisal and development wells drilled on the coal bed methane licence using a combination of vertical and horizontal drilling techniques. It is estimated that the block has total recoverable reserves of 607 billion cubic feet. Drilling of up to 20 wells is to be undertaken, with the aim of increasing gas production to 11 bcf per annum. The wells to be drilled will be multi-seam, multi-lateral wells targeting four separate coal seams. Each of the four laterals will be drilled between 800-1,000m and production will be via a dedicated vertical production well located at the heel (start) of the lateral sections.
