The Fos Cavaou LNG terminal is located on the Mediterranean coast, 50 km west of Marseille in Fos-sur-Mer. The terminal has a storage capacity of 330,000 cubic metres and an 8.25 billion cubic feet per year regasification capacity, covering approximately six percent of France’s total natural gas consumption. It is capable of receiving LNG carriers with the capacity to transport up to 270,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas.
Shell and Vopak have signed a joint venture agreement to develop a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at Fos-sur-Mer in France. The Fos Faster LNG terminal will have an initial planned capacity of around 8 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The final capacity of the terminal will be 16 bcm and four storage tanks are envivioned in the full build-out. Vopak will be the main shareholder with a 90% share in the joint venture and Shell will hold the remaining 10%.
