Project Profile

Value: US$1.2 billion
Location: Norwegian Sea
Upstream Oil Reserves: 90 million bbl
Upstream Gas Reserves: 1,681 billion ft³
Upstream condensate reserves: 26 million boe
Water Depth: 450m
Start-up Year: Q4 2012

The Skarv & Snadd fields will be developed using an FPSO. The Skarv & Snadd are complex fields comprising several different reservoirs and structures in partblocks 6507/5, 6507/6, 6507/2 and 6507/3. Initial rates of production are estimated at 80,000 b/d of oil and around 15 MMcmd of gas. The assessment shows topsides design capacity on the FPSO for oil will be 85,000 b/d and for gas around 20 MMcm. BP is hoping that Skarv can become a hub for production from other fields in the area. The water depth in the area varies from 320m to 450m.

Resources:

Oil: 14.3 million scm.
Gas: 35.8 billion scm.
NGL: 5.8 million tonnes.
Condensate: 4.0 million scm.

6507/3-3 Idun was proven in 1998. The water depth in the area is 390 metres. The discovery is located between Heidrun and Norne. The reservoir contains gas and is made up of Middle Jurassic sandstones. The deposit is found in a structurally faulted area in the Nordland II region, with the top of the reservoir at about 3 330 metres.

Resources:

Gas: 11.8 billion scm.
NGL: 1.5 million tonnes.
Condensate: 0.2 million scm.

There will be five drill centres: Skarv A (gas), Skarv B/C template one, West (oil production, water injection); Skarv B/C template two, East (oil production, gas injection); Tilje (oil production, gas injection); and Idun (gas production). There will be 16 wells, 13 of which will be predrilled. The riser system consists of 11 risers and two dynamic umbilicals. The risers will be uninsulated eight-inch and 10-inch production risers, as well as 12-inch gas injection and gas export risers.
