Project Profile

Value: US$7,000 million
Location: Khabarovsk Territory, Primorsky Region, Sakhalin Island
Length: 1,800 kilometres
Start-up Year: 2011

The Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok pipeline will be 1,800 kilometres long and will be able to transport 30 billion cubic metres of gas per year. Gazprom owns the section of line running from Sakhalin Island onshore to Komsomolsk-on-Amur, 360km from Khabarovsk. The stretch from Komsomolsk to Khabarovsk is owned by Daltransgas, of which Gazprom holds 47.5%, the Russian state 27.63% and Rosneft the remainder. Gazprom plans to fill the line with gas from the ExxonMobil operated Sakhalin-1 project on the Russian Pacific shelf. The main objective for gas in East Siberia and the Far East is above all to serve the domestic market, however, Gazprom has believes the pipeline could eventually be used to feed exports of gas to East Asian countries, including Japan.
