Project Profile
Value: US$800 million
Location: Northern North Sea, Block 2/15, United Kingdom
Reserves: P50 reserves of up to 9.49 MMcm (59.7 MMbbl) of oil
Start-up Year: 1Q 2021
The project will see the redevelopment of the abandoned Cheviot field previously known as Emerald. The project will include 16 subsea wells (13 oil producers, 2 water producers, 1 gas producer/injector) tied back to a new \'Octabuoy\' floating production platform with oil storage in legs and tanker offloading and gas export via the Frigg pipeline system to St Fergus. Cheviot originally held 232 million barrels of oil in place and 59 billion cubic feet of gas in place. Around 16 million barrels was tapped by a previous operator in the 1990s before the field, then known as Emerald, were shut in. The field straddles blocks 2/10b, 2/15a and 3/11b in the northern North Sea, which are 100%-owned by ATP. The oil is too acidic to be accepted for pipeline transport, so infield storage is required with export by shuttle tanker.
