Project Profile

Value: US$200 million
Location: North Sea, UK
Blocks: 15/20a and 15/20b
Start-up Year: 2010

Phase two of the Dumbarton development will proposes drilling up to four production wells and one produced water injection well and installing a new subsea manifold (DCII). One well will be drilled in the northwest area of the field and tied back via an additional flowline to the DCII manifold. Oil from the FPSO will be exported via shuttle tanker, with a rich gas stream exported by pipeline via MacCulloch and Piper, where NGLs will be extracted and piped into the Flotta system. The remaining gas will be exported via the Frigg system. In addition to the drilling program, the phase 2 workscope covers installation of a new 14-inch rigid flowline and the 8-slot DCII manifold. The single well in the northwest area of the field, around 4 km from the current DCC drill centre, will be drilled as a subsea tieback to the new DCII manifold and will require the installation of a new 8-inch flowline, controls and gaslift. The Lochranza development, which is taking place in conjunction with the Donan phase 2 work, has targeted first oil in third-quarter/fourth-quarter 2009. Oil and gas output will be commingled with Dumbarton production. Lochranza has an estimated 10-year field life.

Operators:

Maersk Oil North Sea Limited: Operator with 100% interest as of June 2012

Contractors:

Acergy: EPC - Subsea installation

Framo Engineering AS: Multiport manifold

Harkand: Subsea inspection of FPSO contract

Wellstream: Flexible flowlines

SubC Partner: EPCI project on an FPSO with Maersk Oil. The final goal of the project is to replace selected buoyancy modules on a live riser, without shutting down oil production. The EPCI project for Maersk Oil will optimize asset performance operationally and economically. The ROV and the special tooling is operated from a DP2 vessel, which is positioned outside the swing circle of the FPSO. Contract also to support the execution of the project to replace selected buoyancy modules on a live riser. The second covers the chartering of a vessel, for which the Polar King has been nominated, for the execution of the offshore works, along with DOF provision of work class ROVs and project personnel. (June 2015)

Viking SeaTech UK: Secured a long-term North Sea contract with the UK business of Maersk Oil. The agreement is for the supply of rig move equipment and storage services. It covers a fixed period of three years and also contains options for multiple extensions. As part of the arrangement Viking SeaTech will keep Maersk Oil’s equipment safe and secure at their premises so it is ready for use in combination with their own for each project stage. The company will support Maersk’s assets in the Dumbarton, Gryphon and Janice fields. The schedule includes the use of the Sedco 704 semi-submersible. (October 2015)

Subcontractors:

DOF Subsea UK: Two contracts to support the execution of its project to replace selected buoyancy modules on a live riser for Maersk Oil in the Dumbarton Field. The first scope focuses on onshore solution optimization, and sees DOF Subsea providing ROV assets, personnel and technical support to SubC Partner during the performance of the project wet tests, which will take place this August in Esbjerg, Denmark. The second covers the chartering of a vessel, for which the Polar King has been nominated, for the execution of the offshore works, along with DOF provision of work class ROVs and project personnel. The vessel comes mobilised with 2 work class ROVs. (July 2015)
