Facai-1, located 110 kilometres north of the West Fachi-1 exploration well drilled by the licence partners in 2007, was originally scheduled to be spudded in May 2008.
The Tenere block is located in the Termit-Tenere rift basin, one arm of a series of rift basins that extend across north-central Africa and are producing oil in Libya, Chad and Sudan.
The southern half of Termit-Tenere is covered by the adjacent CNPC-operated Agadem block, where the Chinese state-owned giant has made a series of oil and gas discoveries amounting to more than 350 million barrels of oil equivalent in estimated resources.
TG World Energy, has made the decision to not participate in the second exploration phase of the Tenere Block
