Project Profile

Value: $3000
Startup Year: 2015

The Imashevsky is a large gas and condensate field found on the south western region of the Pre-Caspian Basin, 60 kilometers east north east of the Russian city of Astrakhan and 250 kilometers south-west of the Kazakh city of Atyrau. In January 2005, the President of Kazakhstan Nazarbaev and Russian President Putin signed a boundary delimitation treaty over the Imashevsky field area.

The gas is relatively sour and consists of approximately 62 to 66 percent methane, 2 to 4 percent ethane, 15 to 16 percent H2S, 11 percent CO2 and 5 percent nitrogen. The gas contains 40 bbls per mmcf of condensate. Corrosive mercaptans are reported to be present in the condensate (250 mg/l).

The field has probable reserves of 128.7 billion cubic metres of gas and 20.7 million tonnes of gas condensate.
