Project Profile
Value: US$350 million
Location: West Cape Three Points Block, offshore Ghana
Water Depth: 3,150 feet (960 metres)
The Odum oil field, situated in the West Cape Three Points Block, lies in waters measuring 3,150 feet (960 metres) offshore Ghana. Kosmos Energy operates the block with 30.875%; Tullow Oil with 26.396%; Anadarko with 30.875%; Sabre O&G with 1.854%; and Ghana with 10%.
Drilled in 2008, the Odum-1 discovery well was deemed a commercial success since it\'s in close proximity to the massive Jubilee field. Following the discovery, the operator drilled an appraisal well, Odum-2, penetrating a net hydrocarbon bearing pay of 66 feet (20 metres) in high quality stacked sands stone reservoirs over a gross interval of 597 feet (182 metres). Reservoir fluids obtained from the well indicate an oil gravity of 18 to 19 degrees API. The appraisal well was drilled by the Atwood Hunter semisub to a total depth of 8,399 feet (2,560 metres).
The operator plans to drill additional exploration and appraisal wells in the area before announcing field development plans. The Banda-1 well is situated 9.6km southeast of the Odum discovery in the eastern part of the West Cape Three Points licence.
