The project is being developed for exporting the growing volume of Kazakh oil produced primarily at the Kashagan and Tengiz fields, through the Caspian Sea to international markets through the East-West energy corridor along the route Eskene-Kuryk-Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan.
The project includes a 729 km pipeline, with the capacity of 25 million tonnes per year, oil-loading terminal in Kuryk and tanker transportation to Baku-Tblisi-Ceyhan. The cost of the oil pipeline is estimated at US$1.3billion and for the terminal at US$500-600 million.
