The project will see the exploration and development of the offshore Absheron (Apsheron) Block. The block is found 100 kilometres from Baku, in water depths of around 500 metres. Apsheron is foundnorth-east of the giant Shah Deniz gas condensate field. The first volume of gas from the Absheron gas and condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea will be obtained in Q4, 2021. The final investment decision on the project will be made in Q4 2017, and the drilling of the first well is expected to begin in the last quarter of 2019. The field’s potential reserves stand at 350 billion cubic metres of gas and 45 million metric tons of condensate.

GAS: ROV visual inspection of wellhead in the Absheron field. GAS carried out the ROV inspection using Ageotec’s Perseo GTV ROV. The company secured the contract from the field’s operator, Total. (October 2015)
