Project Profile

Potential Value: ~ US$200 million
Location: UKCS blocks 48/19 and 48/20, 100km east of the Lincolnshire coast
Water depth: 24 m
Reserves: 13.4 bcm GIP
Discovery year: March 1983
Start-up year: Mid-year 2012

Clipper South Gas development will involve drilling five horizontal multi-fractured wells. A platform will be tied back to the LOGGS pipeline system. The field will be developed with a single platform tied back to LOGGS system via a 12-inch diameter, 15km pipeline. The Clipper South platform will comprise a jacket and 2,000t topsides with accommodation for 40 people. The field is expected to have a 15-year lifespan and is expected to plateau at 2.83 mcm per day in 2013.

Clipper South was discovered in March 1983. Clipper South is found within the Southern North Sea gas province, south of the Clipper-Barque cluster, west of the Viking Complex and north of Anglia. The field is reservoired in Lower Permian wind-blown aeolian sandstones belonging to the Rotliegend Group. The underlying Carboniferous Coal Measures are the source of the dry gas. The Clipper South Trap comprises a south to south-westerly dipping fault block bounded to the north by a fault from the Clipper Field. The dip closure occurs to the east, south and west.
