Project Profile
Value: US$50 million (estimate)
Location: Kul-Bas Exploration and Production Contract area
Area: Approximately 7,632 sq. km
Start-up Year: -
The Kul-Bas Exploration and Production Contract area surrounds the Akkulka Block and has similar geological, tectonic and structural features to the Akkulka Block. The company considers this large area to be under-explored, only being subject to regional magnetic, gravity and seismic surveys in the Soviet-era with limited stratigraphic wells.
The Kul-Bas block is a large exploration area of approximately 7,632 sq. km. There is already reasonable seismic coverage over the area and the company has reprocessed much of these data as well as acquiring and interpreting over 500 km of new seismic - this and the Akkulka block identifying several prospects at both shallow and deeper levels. The company intends to commence a new exploration well in this block in 2010, which is targeting a prospect with similar characteristics to Doris.
