Project Profile
Value: US$370 million
Location: Greater Stella Area development, North Sea, UK
Upstream condensate reserves: 30 million boe
Production: ~12,000 boepd (approximately 95% oil)
Water Depth: 85m
Start-up Year: January 2017
The Stella field was found in 1979 by the 30/6-2 well and subsequently appraised by well 30/6-3 in 1983. A drill stem test carried out in the 1983 well flowed 2,750 b/d of oil and 23 MMcf/d (652 Mcm/d) of gas from the Andrew sandstone. A well drilled in 2004 confirmed the presence of gas-condensate, testing at 3,200 b/d and 17 MMcf/d (480 Mcm/d). The Total Proved (1P) reserves at Stella have increased 30.6% from 15.99m boe to 20.88m boe, while Proved plus Probable (2P) reserves have increased 12.8% from 37.19m boe to 41.96m boe. The increase in reserves is due to the updated evaluation of the Stella field based on the results of appraisal well 30/6a-8 drilled in the first quarter 2010.
Combined net 2P reserves for the Greater Stella Area, which also includes the satellite Harrier and Hurricane fields, now totals more than 30m boe. The Hurricane discovery was made 10km west of the Stella discovery by well 29/10-4Z in 1995. Ithaca estimates the accumulation could contain up to 45 mmboe of in-place hydrocarbons. Development concept is based on a jackup production unit with a possible riser access platform, and production from up to 10 subsea wells. There are four liquids producers and one gas producer at Stella, two gas producers at Harrier and two oil producers plus one water injector at Hurricane.
