Project Profile

Location: Stord Basin in the North Sea, east of the Jotun and Grane Fields
Water Depth: 261 m / 861 ft

The Storbarden prospect is a Tertiary stratigraphic trap with a secondary target in the shallow Utsira formation. Dolphin Drilling\'s Borgland Dolphin was contracted to carry out exploration drilling in March 2013. The extensions PL 506 BS & CS were awarded in APA 2010 with work programmes following that of the main license. Storbarden is a high risk/high reward oil prospect in the Stord Basin, with gross unrisked potential of 100 – 1,800 mmboe. The 26/5-1 well is the first well on the prospect and will test resources of 100 – 340 mmboe.

In April 2013 the Operator, Rocksource ASA announced a dry well at the Storbarden prospect in the North Sea. Both the main and secondary targets were encountered as expected but proved to be void of hydrocarbons. The well was permanently abandoned on 6 May 2013 as a dry well.
