Value: Undisclosed
Location: Norwegian sector of the North Sea & part of block 16/1, south of the Edvard Grieg field, central part of the North Sea, Norway
Water Depth: 367 feet (112 metres)
Estimated recoverable resources: 15 to 65 million barrels of oil

Apollo Prospect in Production License 338

The Apollo prospect is located on Block 16/1 in a water depth of 367 feet (112 metres) in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. Lundin operates the license, holding a 50% interest; Wintershall Norge ASA holds 30%; and RWE-Dea holds 20%. On September 24, 2010, Lundin spud an exploratory well 16/1-14 on the Apollo prospect in Production License 338. The planned depth of the well was 8,202 feet (2,500 metres), which was drilled by the Transocean Winner semisub. Lundin made an oil discovery in the exploratory well 16/1-4. Reaching a total depth of 8,366 feet (2,550 meters), the well’s primary objective was to target the extension into PL 338 of the Jurassic reservoir associated with the Draupne discovery. Secondary objectives were targeted at both the Paleocene and the Upper Jurassic/Lower Cretaceous sand sequences. A 131-foot (40-metre) gross oil column was encountered at the Paleocene level, and a 33-foot (10-metre) gross oil column with excellent reservoir qualities was found at the Cretaceous level. An additional 197 feet (60 metres) of good quality Cretaceous sands were encountered below the oil water contact, resulting in excellent potential up-dip of the discovery. Further delineation drilling is required, but Lundin believes the initial recoverable resources range is estimated at 15 to 65 million barrels of oil.

Production Licence 338 C

Production licence 338 C was separated from production licence 338 and awarded on 16 December 2014. This is the second exploration well to be drilled within the area covered by the permit. The drilling program for well 16/1-25 S concerns the drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 338 C. Lundin is the operator with an ownership interest of 80 per cent. The other licensee is OMV (Norway) AS with 20 per cent. The area in this licence consists of part of block 16/1. The well is being drilled south of the Edvard Grieg field in the central part of the North Sea.

In February 2017, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Lundin Norway AS a drilling permit for well 16/1-27, cf. The well will be drilled from the Island Innovator drilling facility, at position 58°50’18.11” north and 2°11’56.83” east, in a south westerly extension of the Edvard Grieg field in the central part of the North Sea. This is the 11th exploration well to be drilled in the licence area and the 8th exploration well on the Edvard Grieg field.
