The Buzzard field is located in the Outer Moray Firth, central North Sea, 100km northeast of Aberdeen, UK, and 55km from the coast at Peterhead. The field straddles two licences – P.986 (blocks 19 / 10 and 20 / 6) and P.928(S) (blocks 19 / 5a and 20 / 1S. The water depth in the area is about 100m. The Buzzard Phase II Development Project, which is being carried out in partnership with Aker Solutions, Subsea7, Worleyparsons and Maersk Drilling, is estimated to cost over US$655 million and will involve the drilling of at least six new wells.
The Scott platform, which came on stream in 1993, produces crude oil and natural gas from the Scott, Telford and Rochelle fields. Scott is located about 188 km (116 miles) northeast of Aberdeen in 142 metres (465 feet) of water. Oil from the platform is exported via the Forties pipeline to the Kinneil Terminal in Scotland. Natural gas is exported via the Sage pipeline system. Nexen Petroleum is the operator of all three fields.
RockRose Energy plc signed non-binding headline terms and a period of exclusivity with Maersk Oil to buy its non-operated interests in Scott and Telford fields. (September, 2016)
