In 2015, Sinopec drilled and fractured the first Shunbei 1-1H well on the field. In late August 2016, the operator announced six further appraisal wells, which had produced more than 733 bpd of high-yield lightweight oil.
At present, Sinopec has deployed 10 wells, eight of which have been completed, and two more are being drilled.
On 21st November 2017, Sinopec approved a plan to develop the field, with commercial production expected by 2020. Shunbei is part of Sinopec\'s upstream shale gas exploration and development strategy.
