The liquefied natural gas receiving terminal is located in Kushiro, northern Japan, to tap projected growth in demand, especially from the industrial sector. The terminal will include a berth for receiving vessels and a 10,000 cubic metre LNG storage tank. JX Nippon carried out all the construction works on the project but in 2017 joined forces with Japanese utility Hokkaido Gas to provide liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Japan’s northernmost main island of Hokkaido. Under the deal, JX Nippon Oil & Energy will allow Hokkaido Gas to use its Kushiro LNG satellite terminal.
