The unawarded Batu Ampar concession spans 2,452 square km of onshore acreage at the Upper Kutai Basin in East Kalimantan. It was offered during the 2016 Indonesian licensing round via an open tender, with the obligation to conduct geological and geophysical studies and drill one vertical well.
Investors would have paid a US$1 million signing bonus, and provisionally split revenues with Jakarta on a 60-40 basis for extracted shale oil, and a 55-45 basis for shale gas.
Batu Ampar contains an estimated 7.08 trillion cubic feet (200.48 bcm) of gas plus 21.37 million barrels of oil.
