Yeosu refinery is located at Yeosu city in South Jeolla Province of South Korea. The facility is the world’s fourth largest, capable of processing 785,000 barrels of crude oil per day. The refinery is operated by GS Caltex, a joint venture between GS Holdings and Chevron.

The refinery began operations in 1969. A residue fluidised catalytic cracker (RFCC) with a capacity of 94,000 bpd was installed in 1995. In August 2007 GS Caltex completed a US$1.5 billion project to build the world\'s largest vacuum distillation unit in Yeosu, a hydrocracker and base oil plant, which greatly increased GS Caltex\'s heavy-oil cracking ability. Chevron Lummus Global provided the integrated hydroprocessing unit.

The refinery has a desulphurisation facility with a capacity of 272,000 bpd. It also includes a hydrocracker and base oil plant, and HOU facilities to convert cheap residue into expensive light petroleum products, such as kerosene and diesel.
