Project Profile

Location: District Sanghar, Sindh, Pakistan
Production: 6.2 MMscfd gas; 70 bpd condensate
Depth: 3,564 metres
Start-up Year: -

Gambat South is located in District Sanghar, Sindh, Pakistan. The block was granted to PPL in December 2009. Later, the company farmed-out 10% of its working interest in Gambat South to Asia Resources Oil Limited and 25% to Government Holdings (Private) Limited in June and July 2010, respectively. So far, eight discoveries, Wafiq, Shahdad, Sharf, Kinza, Faiz (two formations), Kabir, Hadi and Hatim have been made in the block. Plans are underway to tap optimum potential of the block. In this regard, a 50 MMscfd Gas Processing Facility is being installed to obtain production from other discoveries of the block with expected completion by mid 2016.

PPL along with its joint venture partners Government Holdings (Private) Limited and Asia Resources Oil Limited made the gas and condensate discovery at its exploration well Faiz X-1 in December 2014. Exploration well Faiz X-1 was spud on October 17, 2014 and reached final depth of 3,564 metres on December 1, 2014. Based on wire line logs, potential hydrocarbon bearing zones were identified in the Massive Sand of Lower Goru Formation, which are under testing. Initial testing flowed 8.46 MMscfd gas along with condensate volume of 115 barrels per day (bbl/d) at 64/64 inches choke size, thus confirming presence of commercial quantities of natural gas and condensate at Faiz X-1.

Later in July 2016, the company with its other two joint venture discovered hydrocarbons at Hadi X-1A exploration well in the Gambat South Block in Sanghar district in Pakistan\'s Sindh province. PPL drilled the Hadi X-1A prospect to test the hydrocarbon potential of sands of Lower Goru/Sembar Formations. Gas flowed from the well at an average of 0.85 million standard cubic feet per day at 32/64 inch choke while testing was conducted at the well.
