The Samcheok LNG Terminal is located 250 kilometres east of Seoul, South Korea. The terminal has a total storage capacity of 2.4 million cubic metres of LNG in twelve 200,000 cbm storage tanks. The construction of the project began in 2010, and is set to be constructed in three phases. The first phase, which has already been completed, included the construction of four storage tanks, a 1.8 kilometre-long breakwater, a berth able to receive LNG carriers with a capacity of up to 270,000 cbm and LNG submerged combustion vaporizers with a 780 ton per hour gasification capacity. The operator of the project is Kogas and has scheduled to complete the two remaining stages by 2016 (stage two) and 2017 (stage three). The construction of the first stage has cost around US$1.19 billion, however the value of the entire project is unknown.
